California white sage. Salvia Apiana, the white sage, bee sage, or sacred sagegrows near the Pacific coast of Southern California and is gathered ethically by indigenous people.

Smudge is a small bunch of dried herbs that are smouldered to create a sacred smoke. Smudge is perhaps most associated with the First Nation tribes of the Americas, but similar practices can be found in almost all cultures.
To light sage hold a flame to it until it starts to burn, then blow out any flame to leave a scented smoking smoulder.
Never leave smouldering smudge unattended.
